Linda W Shanks, DC, FACO


Dr. Shanks was born in Half Moon Bay and raised in Sacramento. She received Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Psychology from California State University Sacramento. Her research thesis was in Sleep and Dreams, with her Master’s thesis in psychosomatic conditions of anxiety.  She received her doctorate degree in Chiropractic Studies from Cleveland Chiropractic College, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1979.  She attained postgraduate board certification from the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedics in 1985 and awarded a Fellowship from the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists in 1986. She completed advanced studies and board eligibility in Radiology from Palmer Chiropractic College.

Dr. Shanks, as a Board Certified Chiropractic Orthopedist, became involved in the licensing of new doctors, receiving a examiner commission from the Board of Chiropractic Examiners in 1985. She specialized in clinical competency, writing licensing examinations, and examining young doctors. She has been a licensing examiner on the state and national level for 25 years. She was the editor-in-chief for the National Board Review Series preparing students for examination.

She served as a Qualified Medical Examiner for the State of California for 20 years, evaluating spinal injuries for permanent disabilities.

She has served as a chiropractic expert for the State of California since 1985, protecting consumers and upholding the high standards of chiropractic care.

Dr. Shanks earned a certification from Texas A&M University in Collision Analysis in 1999, studying the biomechanics and injuries that occur in automobile accidents. She is a qualified court expert in chiropractic, testifying regarding whiplash injuries.

She has been in private practice in Sacramento since 1979, when she joined her practice with Fred Games, DC, one of the early chiropractic pioneers whose practice was established in 1942. She specializes in the treatment of chronic pain syndromes, whiplash syndromes, and back injuries.
